Project Manager - External Wall Risk Assessments

Morgan Hunt currently require a Project Manager - External Wall Risk Assessments and Fire Strategies for Housing Trust based in North London on a Temporary basis
Pay Rate : £46.85ph Ltd
Hours :37.5 hrs Mon to Fri - 9am and 17.00pm - Hybrid working available 2 days office based.
Location : North London
Duration : 3 months on going contract

Key Responsibilities:

The Project Manager - External Wall Risk and Fire Strategies oversees the programme of external wall risk assessments and fire strategies across all buildings where trust is responsible by managing a range of fire engineer consultants. This ensures that our fire risk assessments are fully informed, identifies external wall remediation, and ultimately keeps residents safe in their homes. Also providing SME guidance across the organisation to support compliance, regulatory engagement and the Golden Thread of information.

Duties

You'll refine and manage a programme of external wall risk assessments and retrospective fire strategies across our buildings, using our asset data to prioritise the programme.

You'll ensure that we have competent fire engineers appointed to complete the risk assessments, with regular checks of their competency credentials.

Ensure fire engineers and their outputs provide both quality and value for money for services provided.

Assess the quality of risk assessments being provided by appointed engineers and challenge outcomes where appropriate.

Ensure that all documentation is gathered and provided to allow a thorough and informed assessment of risk by appointed engineers

Manage monitoring and investigative follow up actions through to completion, including appointing specialist contractors where required

Work with fire risk assessors to ensure FRAEW findings are reflected in FRAs

Ensure EWS1 forms are kept up to date and customers are kept up to date with progress relating to property transactions

Ensure a fully informed managed handover of any major work to trusts Remediation team, with involvement during transition.

Work with Building Safety Case Developers and Building Safety Managers to write external wall and fire strategy sections of building safety cases

Lead on external wall and fire strategy queries from the Building Safety Regulator, liaising with fire engineers to formulate responses where required.

Lead on responding to external wall queries from colleagues and customers

Research legislative requirements and ensure trust is aware and prepared

Act as an internal external wall SME to support Development handovers and Gateways approvals for major works, ensuring trust holds all required external wall information and fire strategy information as part of the golden thread of information

Use expertise for regular knowledge sharing and training internally to the extent of competence.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

MRICS/FRICS and/or MCABE and/or MIFireE/CEng and/or MCIOB with Level 6 qualification in fire safety

Experience of working with occupied residential buildings and residential building construction documents

Experience of quality checking the work of fire engineers

Experience of contract management
Good understanding of the Building Safety Act 2022, PAS9980, EWS1 and associated legislation, specification and guidance

Excellent information retrieval, accuracy and information management skills
Experience in project management and coordination, handling multiple projects concurrently

Experience in external wall inspections, including the management of enabling works and associated H&S requirements (including CDM)

Experience in communication with residents

Experience of responding to external wall queries from the building safety regulator
