We're looking for a dedicated and compassionate Safeguarding & Wellbeing Officer to join a welcoming Further Education college in the Cambridge area this September.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in protecting learners, promoting wellbeing, and supporting students to overcome barriers that may impact their education and personal development.

The Opportunity

As a Safeguarding & Wellbeing Officer, you'll be at the heart of student support, working closely with learners, teaching staff, parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure safeguarding concerns are identified, managed, and resolved appropriately.

You'll help create a culture where learners feel safe, supported, and empowered to succeed.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Managing and responding to safeguarding concerns and referrals
  • Supporting students experiencing welfare, wellbeing, or safeguarding issues
  • Working closely with designated safeguarding leads and wider support teams
  • Liaising with parents, carers, local authorities, and external agencies
  • Maintaining accurate safeguarding records and documentation
  • Supporting safeguarding investigations and risk assessments where required
  • Promoting a positive safeguarding culture across the college
  • Delivering advice and guidance to staff and learners on safeguarding matters
  • Supporting attendance, wellbeing, and learner engagement initiatives

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience within safeguarding, student support, welfare, pastoral care, or a related field
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation and best practice
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy
  • Experience working with young people or vulnerable adults
  • Strong organisational and record-keeping skills
  • Commitment to promoting learner safety, wellbeing, and inclusion
