Learning Support Assistant

We are recruiting for the following position:

• Learning Support Assistant (LSA)
• Mainstream primary school
• London Borough of Camden
• Immediate start
• £100.00 per day pay rate (PAYE)

Our client school is based in the London Borough of Camden. They have over 400 students and have been judged as Outstanding by Ofsted. This is an excellent place to work. They have a number of students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and you will play a lead role in supporting those children.

What will you be doing in a typical day?

• Supporting SEND students in accessing the curriculum
• Supervising SEND students both inside and outside the classroom; assisting with break times, lunch times and trips as well as extra-curricular activities
• Using positive strategies and good behaviour management to ensure the safety and wellbeing of students
• Working closely with class teachers and other professionals towards achieving the best outcomes for SEND students

What skills would serve you well in this role?

• The most important skill is a positive mindset and a passion for supporting SEND students; there will be professional development opportunities available within the role
• Experience of working with SEND or vulnerable people in a previous role; this could include in schools and also in settings such as healthcare, social care, community or youth work
• It is essential that you have good emotional intelligence and empathy for SEND students
