
Senior Capital Accountant
* Lead on all elements of fixed asset accounting, you will be seen as a key subject matter expert, providing guidance and challenge as part of the ongoing transformation initiatives.
* Execute appropriate financial controls and ensure that information which is recorded and reported is timely, accurate, and in line with the Group's accounting policies.
* Offer strategic and operational guidance to facilitate the management of emerging opportunities and challenges.
* Provide support to the Head of Capital and Asset Reporting in overseeing the financial implications of the Group's CAPEX and sales programmes.
* Maintain accurate data, managing large complex data sets on excel and in-house systems
* Develop a programme for collecting, updating, maintaining, and managing the Group's Fixed Asset Register
* Ensure that capital grant-funded assets adhere to grant terms, conditions and requirements
* Develop and implement standards and processes to identify and collect asset attribute data throughout the asset life cycle
* Manage and mentor the assistant capital accountant fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
Essential knowledge, experience and skills including qualifications and professional membership:
* Hold a CCAB recognised accounting qualification with supporting CPD.
* Extensive experience of working in a complex capital accounting environment, dealing with inventory, fixed assets and investments
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills for diverse audience engagement; work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
* Strategic thinking ability; capable of analysing complex data to develop solutions and make data driven decisions
* Experience influencing operational activities at both tactical and strategic levels across all areas of the business
* Proficiency in Excel; knowledge of D365 and Power BI preferred
* Ability to provide expert technical accounting advice with good knowledge of FRS and ideally exposure to SORP and related government legislation
* Uphold ethical principles including integrity, objectivity, professional competence, confidentiality and professional behaviour
